As unpleasant as it may seem to some politicians, the media, and other hangers on we must face the fact that no man’s life is any more important than a women or child who is a victim of domestic violence or murder.
Last Friday’s incident in Bourke st in Melbourne is a perfect example of the cult of the personality where people refuse to see the forest for the trees and continue, in vain, to persecute Islam for the sake of a few cheap and lousy political points instead of addressing the real terrorist threat in this country.
The gregarious, friendly and compassionate owner of Peligrenni’s restaurant was murdered in what is being described as a terrorist event. Well nothing could be be further from the truth !!!!
The perpetrator of this “terrorist “ event was a person with a psychiatric condition, a mental illness. He had not even been near a mosque for at least 15 years but, for politicians such as pastor Morrison and Peter Dutton, ‘never let the truth get in the way a a good story’. The old adage of I’m not a racist But …… ,rings true !!
Lets be brutally honest if “trolley man “ Michael Rogers was the person murdered that day would the government be offering a state funeral for him? NO .
The government couldn’t even provide this man with safe or affordable housing ,he was homeless!!!! Maybe he is the true hero !!
Sixty eight women and children have been murdered this year due to domestic violence, all of those women I presume had loving relationships with their families, raising the kids, feeding them, sending them off to school every day while in extremely difficult relationships.
Loving , laughing ,being gregarious, a friend a supporter to all to have come into contact with apparently means nought if your are just another murdered woman or child .
Hard to separate the politicians from the coffee.
I am not a woman and find it hard to comprehend the enormous love these women displayed and the sacrifices they made for their families or even their male partners in difficult circumstances.
The outpourings of sympathy for Sisto Malaparena may be palatable but not to the extremes politicians would like to take us down the slippery road to the cult of the personality.
The state labor government set themselves a enormous precedent by offering a state funeral to a person whose life was taken in tragic circumstances but it needs to distance itself from a person they knew personally. Many members frequented Pellegrini’s due of its proximity to Parliament House.
Firemen, policemen, doctors, paramedics are never offered state funerals although putting their lives on the line everyday sometimes with tragic results .
Critics May wish to argue Sisto was the “soul” of Melbourne ,well do so ,but his life will never be more equal or more worthy than that of the women and children the victims of the real terrorist epidemic in this country we refuse to acknowledge at our peril.
When was the last time a prime minister the leader of the opposition or the premier of this state went to a home or a workplace where people have been killed or murdered . Never !! It’s election time.
If anyone wants to argue that a coffee shop owners life is more important more worthy or more precious than that of a deceased mother or child please let me know !!!!

Hi Denis
listened to you on 3cr this morning with Sussana talking about workers death
may be a talking point remember Poor Josh killed On his first day on a work for Dole Project. His inquiry is still taking proceeding after 2/12 years yet the same Goverment Ministers involved at the time ( Marcalle Cash ) could not get in front of a camera quick to attack the CMEFU and AWU when it suits them.
I do not believe we will hear any thing about Josh,s death until this Goverment is out of office and in opposition.
You may want to run this past Irene for legal reasons as i believe there has been instructions to proceed slowly with his inquiry.
